Two losses for the U19 Titans in another rain-shortened weekend.

Over Canada Day weekend, the U19 Titans were in New York State to take on the powerhouse Schenectady Indians. Unfortunately, only the two games on Saturday took place because the rain spoiled the day on Sunday.

In the first game of the weekend, the Indians showed their power by beating the Titans 8-2. It was tied 1-1 after 4 innings but the Indians exploded for 7 runs in the last two innings to run away with the win. Pierce Johnston took the loss. He had done well on the mound before the Indians scored 4 runs in the 5th inning. Gianfranco Graziano pitched the final inning for the Titans. Indians pitchers have completely handcuffed the Titans offense. Their starter even managed a streak of 7 consecutive strikeouts. The Titans threatened in the 7th by loading the bases with no outs but the team did not score as 3 strikeouts ended the game.

Game 2 ended 5-1 for the Indians. In this game, the good news was that the Titans limited the opponent to 5 runs despite several walks and some costly errors. Zach Gosselin, Ethan Levitt and Eli Schiller took turns on the mound and managed to limit the damage despite the traffic on the trails. Unfortunately, for the second game in a row, the offense did not deliver and scored only one run. It's difficult to line up victories by scoring only 3 points in 2 games. Still, in both duels, the top of the lineup did relatively well. This is particularly the case of Anthony Esposito who has reached base regularly in both games

If on the baseball side the first day of the weekend was difficult, it was quite different for the team spirit. First, between the two games, our hosts organized a barbecue where players and parents from both teams were invited. And in the evening, the team dinner in a Japanese steakhouse was appreciated by all. Being part of the Titans’s family goes beyond baseball! (See photos).

Next weekend, the Titans will be in the Boston area to play 5 games in the Boston Open tournament organized by Prospect Select. The Titans' opponents will be: Bay-Sox American, Wladyka Baseball National, Show Baseball New-England Prospects and Scorpions NE. The fifth opponent will depend on previous results. A beautiful weekend in perspective.
